Here at Acura of Peabody, we know that crossovers and SUVs have never been more popular. The 2019 Acura RDX, for example, is breaking sales records all over the place. That doesn’t mean that sedans are dead though, at least as far as the Acura brand is concerned. Instead of just introducing more crossovers, it plans to keep improving their sedans to make them even more popular.

Instead of phasing out models like the 2019 Acura ILX, the Acura brand will take everything it’s learned from redesigning the successful Acura RDX and apply that to its sedan models. It has no plans to bring over the Acura CDX, a compact crossover currently sold in China. This is remarkable considering that SUVs and crossovers currently make up around seventy percent of its sales.

Consumer preferences can change quickly though. So the Acura brand wants to make sure that its sedans stick around and that they’re hitting “home runs” just like its crossovers models are. That means that models like the 2019 Acura TLX could end up getting some tweaks influenced by the redesigned Acura RDX. That could include a redesigned exterior and sporty new A-Spec models that really stand out in a crowded sedan market. It should also mean the addition of the new, intuitive infotainment system found in the 2019 Acura RDX. We can’t wait to see what else gets added to our favorite luxury sedans, and we think that there will be a big market for them for a long time to come.
