Here at Acura of Peabody, we know that the Acura brand isn’t just a creator of luxury cars. The brand’s racing history stretches back nearly to its inception in 1986 and it shows when you drive an Acura car like the 2019 Acura TLX. Now the brand has unveiled its latest racecar, a new livery that’s a throwback to the early nineties and an homage to the brand’s history.

The 2019 Acura ARX-05 IMSA Livery will be used during this year’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Its black, white, and orange color scheme is clearly a throwback to the original Acura IMSA prototypes that made a splash back in the early nineties. These cars dominated, winning multiple championships from 1991 to 1993. Acura Executive Director Dave Marek wanted to pay tribute to the amazing Acura vehicles of the past while showing what a new model could do.

Those cars used an updated engine based on the one found in the very first Acura NSX model. The new livery gets an upgrade, with a twin-turbo AR35TT engine that’s somewhat similar to the engine found in current Acura models, including the Acura RLX and Acura MDX. The WeatherTech SportsCar Championship starts on January 26 in Daytona, and we can’t wait to see how the 2019 Acura ARX-05 IMSA Livery performs. We think it will be yet another milestone in the Acura brand’s performance history.
