Last month, our team here at your Acura dealers serving Andover, Acura of Peabody, was thrilled to learn that the 2017 Acura MDX had earned the coveted Top Safety Pick+ designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This marks the fourth year in a row that the smooth and sophisticated Acura MDX earned the top honor. A total of four 2017 Acura models were among the top IIHS-rated vehicles for 2017. Keep reading to learn more about these great honors!

Both the 2017 Acura MDX and the 2017 Acura RDX with available AcuraWatch were named Top Safety Pick+ designees, while the 2017 Acura ILX with available AcuraWatch and the 2017 Acura RLX were both named Top Safety Pick designees. With four models among those vehicles named by the IIHS, the Acura brand has reconfirmed its commitment to providing safe and reliable new Acura models.

In order to be named a Top Safety Pick+ designee, a vehicle must earn the top rating of “good” in all five of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s five crash tests: moderate-overlap frontal-offset, small-overlap frontal-offset, side impact, rear crash performance, and rollover tests as well as earning either a Superior or Advanced in crash avoidance technology. In addition to earning those top marks, a designee must also earn a “good” or “acceptable” in the IIHS’s new headlight evaluations. Top Safety Pick designees are those models who earn the top safety ratings in the crash tests and crash avoidance technology, but either did not quality in the headlight tests or were not tested in that area.

The AcuraWatch suite of driver assistance technologies is offered as standard equipment on both the 2017 Acura MDX and 2017 Acura RLX, while available for all other 2017 Acura models. To learn more about what technologies and features are available with the suite, head on down to Acura of Peabody to speak to our team today!
